We are currently hiring an experienced, driven Construction Manager to grow and strengthen our transportation construction engineering and inspection business throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
This position may lead current and future CEI projects, but the primary role will be to lead the CEI Practice, collaboratively with the regional and company leadership.
Must have experience leading teams of inspectors and project engineers.
Basic
Responsibilities:
Proven ability to identify, position and win and deliver new business with VDOT, MD SHA, DDOT and/or other Mid-Atlantic public transportation agencies.
Ability to lead and mentor CMs and inspectors in all elements of managing a construction management project, ensuring compliance with the contract requirements for a variety of transportation projects including but not limited to transit, highway, utilities, and bridge projects.
Manage or monitor all aspects of a CEI project including Preconstruction Services (scoping, utility conflicts, constructability & biddability) as well as close out activities, including as-builts, final quantities and project acceptance.
Develop, recruit and retain area CEI Services staff including, selecting, managing, motivating, disciplining, and mentoring employees.
Required Technical and Functional Skills:
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible roles within the highway construction management industry.
Strong project management skills with a proven track record of adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
Ability to update and track financial information including cost projections for projects.
Knowledge of Construction Management/Inspection Services industry, challenges, competitors and business development strategies in VA, MD and DC.
Strong writing skills and depth of experience in supporting the development of the writing for marketing materials, including developing technical write ups for proposals.
Demonstrated knowledge managing multiple on-call construction management contracts.
Knowledge and mastery of QA/QC development and execution process.
Knowledge and experience interpreting contract specifications and standards.
Must present high integrity and respect in all dealings with clients, subcontractors, colleagues, and staff.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar with PE license and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or ability to attain within six (6) months Preferred Skills/Experience/Education:
Recruiting and placing CEI staff on construction projects with public agencies within the Mid-Atlantic states of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Material certifications are preferred (Asphalt, Concrete, Erosion Control, Earthwork, etc.
).
Proven delivery of construction projects working with both the client and contractor to meet the schedule within the budget or with limited change orders.
Professional that has an energetic, personable demeanor, has the trust of their clients and a willingness to discuss issues in collaborative and productive manner with respect at all levels of the project team.
Travel:
Local travel between job sites and throughout the mid-Atlantic should be expected.
