Sr. Data Engineer
/Direct Hire Salaried Position/
Our customer, located in Dulles VA, is looking to hire a Sr. Data Engineer for a permanent position with their organization. The candidate will be working with the client's Data Platforms Team and is responsible for services related to their existing data platforms and infrastructure, ETL processes, and reporting platforms. They ingest, process, and expose data feeds from external sources such as Omniture and Comscore as well as from many internal data sources within AOL including registration, billing, CMS, and advertising. This data is then consumed by various business intelligence and analytics teams throughout the company, and served to top levels of management. It has a constant and impactful influence on decision making to help increase engagement and yield.
The Data Platforms is looking to hire a Sr. Data engineer to work on their Big Data systems which are the core of their services. They are looking for a candidate with strong experience in Big Data processing using Hadoop/Map Reduce/Hive/Pig and large scale databases like Netezza, Vertica, Postgres or sharded MySQL. The candidate will be responsible for building highly-scalable and extensible big data platforms that provide the foundation for collecting, storing, modeling, and analyzing massive data sets from multiple sources. The position requires strong data modeling and data analytical skills. In addition to the above technical skills, this position requires excellent communication and presentation skills to illustrate and articulate complex technical system design to developers, architects, management and Business users.
Technical Skills
5-10 years of experience
Data Warehouse experience with ETL/ELT
Experience with Big data processing using Hadoop, Hbase, Pig and Hive
Experience with Large scale databases including MYSQL sharding/Greenplum/Netezza/Vertica
Experience with Core Java / APIs
Experience with Amazon Web Services/products
Unix/Linux experience is a must
Education
Bachelors/Masters Degree in Computer Science
