Summary/
Responsibilities:
Design moderately complex electronic and electrical systems; assists in developing component and TM system standards and testing/qualification techniques.
Applies comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, procedures and practices.
Analyze, design, and develop solutions to sounding rocket telemetry and power control systems.
Programming and computer application skills such as Lab-View/Windows, C, C++, OrCad, Microsoft Office, Matlab and Python are desired.
Participate in reviews: requirement, preliminary/critical design, integration readiness and test readiness.
Develops appropriate test methods and documentation to evaluate, debug and check electrical and electronic systems.
Documents the results of complex analysis and design tasks for technical reports and formal meeting presentations.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor s Degree (BA/BS) in Electrical Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience is required.
Specific Requirements
Knowledge of electrical engineering discipline and flight hardware / sounding rocket experience a plus
Knowledge of the principles of electrical design and design of telemetry and related instrumentation systems for flight vehicles and payloads and the ability to develop associated design documentation.
Experience and operational proficiency with electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, multi-meters, etc. as well as components such as microcontrollers, PIC s, EPLD, PLD s, DSP s. Knowledge of ground station equipment (receivers, bit syncs, decoms) and its function is a plus.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems; applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering.
Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for government and commercial sounding rocket programs; and of operational procedures and practices as they apply to sub-orbital rockets.
20% travel is required.
